YELLOW ROSE FUTURITY/DERBY/OPEN/YOUTH/BENEFIT BARREL RACE 2026
I, Elaine Watt and Kaycee Mandel of the Yellow Rose Barrel Futurity/Derby/Open/Youth Committee, would sincerely like to thank the Barrel Racers that competed at our 2025 event. We were so proud of our barrel racers who competed and supported our event in 2025 especially those who entered our Benefit Barrel Race and supported our Silent Auction for the Porchlight Society, a non-profit society for mental wellness in rural communities.
Each year a Benefit Barrel Race is run the Friday evening of the Yellow Rose Futurity/Derby. In 2016 our Benefit Barrel race was held for the Alberta Breast Cancer Foundation. The barrel racers raised just over $5600. In 2017, $5400 was raised for the Alberta Lung Association. In 2018, $6400 was raised for the Calgary Health Trust in support of Brain Aneurysm Research. In 2019, $12800 was raised for the Calgary Children’s Hospital. In 2020, $14400 was raised for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. In 2021, $15400 was raised for the Ronald Macdonald House Alberta. In 2022, $18457 was collected for the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation. In 2023, $15765 was raised for Sabrina Glazier an individual who had a horse related accident and funds were put towards her rehab. In 2024, $21662 was raised for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Calgary Society. In 2025, $14000 was raised for the Porch Light Society.
We would like to sincerely invite you to come and support our Benefit Barrel Race 2026. No money is paid out to the barrel racers just prizes. Prizes are given to each barrel race division and a special prize is given to the person who raises the most money. This year our Benefit Barrel race monies will go to STARS. Pledge forms can be found on our Yellow Rose Barrels Facebook Page or email us yellowrosebarrels@gmail.com
The 2026 Yellow Rose Barrel Futurity/Derby/Open/Youth will take place on May 1-3,2026. Our event now takes place in the new indoor arena at the Claresholm Agriplex. There is a Western Fortunes added sidepot of $5000 for the Futurity and $5000 for the Derby. We have an Amateur Futurity Award as well with $500/day. Check out rule #16 to see if you are eligible.
The 4D open event will be only on Saturday with a purse of $3000 and Prizes for each D. There is a $5000 Western Fortunes sidepot and a $3500 CBHI sidepot in the Open. The 3D Youth barrel race Purse $1000 will run on Saturday after the OPEN ( you are allowed to roll your Youth run to the open or your open run to the youth if eligible as a Youth)
Our event is dependent on the great volunteers that have offered up their time and the generous sponsors that make it all possible for us to come out and have some fun.
We would like you all to come out and enjoy our Yellow Rose Futurity/Derby/Open/Youth Barrel Race and feel free to visit our lovely town of Claresholm, stop by and give our sponsors a hello, or pop into one of the many great little shops Claresholm has to offer.
